THE WRITING  PROCESS

The Writing Process

The writing process is important because the method will assist students in becoming an efficient writer. Many steps are involved in order to produce an above average paper. The first step is to gather ideas and information for a decided topic. The second step is the pre-writing. The prewriting involves identifying the audience, purpose, and premise of the proposal. The third step is creating a draft is composed of initial ideas. The fourth step is editing, where a student visits their chosen Teacher Assistant for guidance in composing a better paper. The fifth step is re-writing where the ideas given by the assistants are considered and added onto the paper. Students should repeatedly visit their chosen Teacher Assistant and rewrite each draft repeatedly to find new patterned errors since “the best writing is rewriting”. The sixth step involves visiting the professor for ultimate guidance in writing the paper for she is the best tutors a student can have.

A paper that contains the six constituent elements of the Aristotelian Argumentative Rhetoric is typically considered an effective piece of writing. The six constituent elements are: introduction, narration, confirmation, concession, refutation, and summation. Each of these components are valuable in creating a sound argumentative writing. First, the introduction which consist of the hook, bridge and divided stasis—the introduction is what contains the thesis or the main focus of an argumentative paper. Second is the narration which provides background of the argument for the audience to understand. Third, the confirmation presents proofs in order. Fourth, the concession acknowledges and considers opposing views of the arguments to the claim, done to make the author’s argument stronger.  Fifth, the refutation establishes the rebuttal. Sixth, and last, is the summation. The summation shows the audience that the proposal given by the author is the best solution for the society. Each and every element in the Aristotelian Argumentative Rhetoric structure contributes to make an effective argument.
